Growing up in the heart of Bangladesh, Shohel witnessed the delicate balance between rich cultural traditions and the rising tide of environmental challenges. Streets filled with plastic waste sparked a question that stayed with him: “How can we preserve our culture while protecting the planet?”
With a background in Textile engineering, Shohel could have followed a conventional career path. Instead, he chose to revive age-old bamboo craftsmanship and turn it into a modern, eco-friendly movement. His vision was clear: create products that reduce plastic use while empowering local artisans with fair wages, skill development, and stable livelihoods.
Under Shohel’s guidance, ecoeen has become a platform where heritage meets sustainability, where bamboo and jute products carry not just quality and design, but also hope and opportunity for communities across Bangladesh.
Growing up in Dhaka and later studying in Europe, Walid witnessed the growing challenge of plastic pollution and its impact on both people and the planet. Motivated to take action, he joined ecoeen to strengthen its mission through jute-based innovations, perfectly complementing Shohel’s expertise in bamboo.
Walid’s experience in Bangladesh’s garments industry taught him the importance of production systems, skilled manpower, and international standards. Bringing this expertise to ecoeen, he ensures that every product is locally impactful yet globally competitive.
